Stuck for present ideas?
What can you give to someone who has everything?

Our cards enable you to give a gift to those who work to improve their community in Eastern Uganda in the name of your friends and family.

It’s easy! Choose a card, decide the amount you would like to give and we will put that gift to good use.

If you are able to gift aid your present then we will be able to give even more.

Contact us on info@krdp.org for further details.

Croco Cub Pack visit

27 Nov

We have recently visited the Croco Cub Pack of Holmes Chapel Scout Group.

They were really interested to hear about our work and two of the cubs did their bit to help!

Des Nesbitt collected spectacles and Anna Bishop organised a sponsored run which raised £50. Well done!

Broomfield County Junior School supports KRDP

27 Oct

Broomfield County Junior School, Warrington supported us as their school charity for the academic year 2009 – 2010.

The children thought up their own ways of helping with cake sales, beat the goalie competitions, and much more, and they raised an amazing £1,902.21p.

Thank you to all the children and staff, and to their headteacher, Mr. Greenwood.

Bras for Uganda

25 Oct

We were asked if we could find any second hand but good quality bras to take out with us to Uganda on our trip in 2009: apparently second hand bras from the UK are far superior in quality to anything readily available in Uganda.

In no time at all we had donations of upwards of 1,000 and stuffed them – literally – into our luggage. the ladies we were able to give them to were overjoyed as you can see from the images below. Perhaps we don’t always appreciate the choices available to us here in the UK?

The women in the area of Okorom, near to Ngora in the Kumi District, were so grateful for the bras, they wrote a letter to say thank you and read it out to us.

Teddies head to Uganda!

25 Feb

We were asked by the charity Teddies for Tragedies if we could take some of their teddies to Uganda with us.

We carried 100 with us in our luggage, but we could have distributed ten times that amount. It was wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of the children we were able to give the teddies to, but it was also heartbreaking to see the disappointment when we had no more to give.

The Teddies were distributed to many children in different areas of Uganda, and all were joyfully received.

New year’s eve 2009

25 Jan

Gatecrashers logo

The Bear and Billet in Chester hosted The Gatecrashers on New Year’s Eve 2009. The money raised from entries was all generously donated to two charities: Breast Cancer and Uganda.

More than £400 has gone towards the Kisakye Special Needs School, part of the work of FDNC, a partner of KRDP. Chris, the drummer from the band, is supporting this work after seeing the school in action on his visit to Uganda in 2009

Our athletic supporters in 2009

25 Dec

Two of our supporters have recently taken part in major running events to raise funds for KRDP.

David Curry ran the 10km BUPA Great Edinburgh Run last year. David started running recently to help keep fit but felt he wanted to take part in a sponsored event in order to raise funds. He raised nearly £500, as well as turning in a very respectable time!

Sarah Savage is one of KRDP’s trustees and a member of her local athletics club.  She ran in the Chester Half Marathon on 17 May 2009, raising £508 in total. A well earned sum!

If you would like to take part in any sort of sponsored event to raise money for KRDP, we will be pleased to help you publicise the event and advise you on how to make sure any eligible donations are made under the Inland Revenue GiftAid scheme. For more information contact us here.

Did you gatecrash our party?

25 Sep

Thanks to all who supported the ‘Gatecrashers’ gig on 19 September 2009. We raised over £1000 to support the work of KRDP in Uganda and had a great evening too!    The Gatecrashers were in action for Uganda again on New Year’s Eve 2009.
